The Principle Of A Restless Mind
There are some who are specifically called to the ministry of receiving dreams. They not only receive dreams about their own situations in life but become vessels through whom the Lord speaks messages to concerning other people's lives also, as well as concerning politics, world events, spiritual attacks, and a whole host of other subjects.
I have known a few such people, and they can be extremely prolific, having as many as four or five dreams a day. But for such people, the following principle becomes exceedingly important. The mind must be quieted and brought under control, and delivered from fears and anxieties in their waking lives, or it will effect their dreams.
This was the message communicated through the following dream. TVs are frequently equated with the reception of dreams because they imprint "moving pictures" upon the mind, ones which then tell a prophetic story.
TV Shop Dream
My dad and I are taking a break working in the shop and sitting down to watch TV. We start out watching a 25 inch console TV and then I point out a 27 inch console we should watch instead, bigger screen. We turn on a 27 inch with a remote control and another TV is turned on also but we don't want it on, so I try to turn off the unneeded TV but I can't. Even when I push the button on the TV I can't get it to go off and start thinking what the problem could be with the off/on circuit, bummer. I roll the TV that is stuck on away from where it was sitting to discover a pile of wires, bad components, and trash under the TV and one of the wires on the floor is burned and I guess that it had entered the ventilation holes under the stuck on TV and that was the problem causing the TV to be stuck on. End of dream.
The first "TV" likely represented dreams the interpreter himself was receiving. Interpreters receive like anyone else, only someone with a gift can also interpret what's coming in through other people's dreams as well. This is what the second TV represented; someone gifted at receiving dreams who made the "picture" even bigger to the interpreter. But then there was a third TV, one that wouldn't turn off. The problem here was the "bad components" and trash that underlay the situation, and these represent fears and anxieties plaguing the dreamer, which can get connected into the equation and make the "TV" virtually impossible to shut off. Their mind is so filled with anxieties from their everyday waking life that they can't shut their mind off during sleep, and it affects how the Lord can use them. He might want to use them to communicate one singular positive dream, but instead it comes along with four anxiety-filled dreams having to do with their present life situation and concerns.
This is part of why the Lord commanded us to cast all our anxieties on Him, because the same principle applies in any area where He might speak through us to others. The mind must be calmed, in keeping with the following passages:
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you... Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith therefore, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Peter 5:7-9)
6 Stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
31 Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Sufficient unto the day are the troubles thereof. (Matthew 6:31-34)
So if you are a receiver of dreams, you must master casting all your anxieties upon Him. If you've dedicated yourself as a servant of God, you have absolutely nothing to worry about other than messing up your own ability to be used of Him by allowing fears to dominate your thinking, which in turn may effect the direction your dreams ultimately take.
