Dreams: A Type Of Military Code
Ever wonder why the Lord has promised that dreams and visions will be one of the primary means God uses to communicate to His people during the end-times? The text for this, of course, is found in Joel Chapter 2, where the prophet predicted a time was coming when the Spirit would be poured out upon believers of all ages, from young to old, and they would all receive prophetic insight from God on how to carry out His will in the earth
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. 29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. 30 “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth. Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. (Joel 2:28-31)
Why will He speak in dreams and visions? The answer is because it is a type of military code which the enemy can neither discern nor imitate. I had a friend recently tell me he heard a voice whispering in his ear, "God says it is ok for you to live a sinful life." We had received other dreams more recently that spoke of demons of lust trying to influence people around him who would suddenly become hard to find, as if they would migrate around seeking someone who would welcome them, so I perceived this was likely these same spirits seeking a new vessel in which to set up shop. But in order to do so, they would first have to convince my friend that sin was now "ok" in the eyes of "God."
This is precisely why our Lord speaks to us in code rather than by speaking to us directly. Any demonic spirit can imitate the voice of God, and some have ultimately convinced men and women to commit horrendous acts of evil, including serial killers who told everyone "God told me to do it."
The Biblical character Joseph once told told a servant to the Pharaoh, "Do not dreams belong to God?," and this saying is indeed true. Those which come from God belong to God and God alone, and only He can reveal their true meaning. Their meaning cannot be discerned by evil spirits, so it becomes a way of bypassing the enemy to communicate to the believer in a way only they will understand when they are being led by the Spirit and hearing God's voice.
The principle is very similar to when our Lord spoke in parables to the disciples. The parables too were "mysteries" which only the disciples would be given to understand.
10 But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. 11 And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12 so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.’” (Mark 4:10-12)
This was followed with an exhortation that the Father desired to reveal all things, for the Light had now come through the life and death of the Lord Jesus Christ, after which the Spirit would be poured out to reveal all things.
21 Also He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? 22 For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Mark 4:21-23)
Jesus also promised them that when the Holy Spirit was come He would lead them into all truth, and reveal things to come (John 16:12-15, 1 John 2:24-27), which of consequence included the meaning of prophetic dreams. Demonic spirits cannot detect what is being communicated, nor will they know when the Spirit of God not only knows their plans and strategies but is revealing them to the people of God to thwart them.
