Satan Is Under My Feet



'I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Timothy, my co-worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my fellow Jews. I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord. Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city’s director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings. Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith— to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your path that are contrary to the Word of God. Stay away from them. Lord, give us discernment to know when people are genuine and healthy for us and when they are toxic and deceptive. Keep us from being deceived, Lord. I pray that we will not allow anyone to manipulate and control us, but that we will listen only to You, depend on You, and trust You. Amen!!

Time to catch up with my sister again.

Amen to your prayer. What speaks to me in your words and in the passage is something to many seem to talk about, and that's how strongly the Holy Spirit was present in the lives of early Christians and early church congregations. When He spoke of Satan being put under their feet, Paul meant that the Spirit of God would expose the darkness supernaturally, through gifts like word of knowledge or prophecy or discerning of spirits, and the truth would be exposed to the light of day. And when it happened, the deceivers and those who were causing divisions in the church to lead men unto themselves would be revealed in full for what they truly were, and Satan who was using them would be put under the church's feet.

Would that all churches still moved in such things today, but I think the days will be increasingly coming when they will be, through good teachings on the word of God that reveal how they truly operated.
