The Principle Of Compartmentalization

If there is one principle that has been driven home to me over the last year or so, it's this: Don't read too much into the character of a person based merely on one dream. Most people, even Christians, can be depicted positively in one dream yet more negatively in another, and it will always depend on the context of the situation described. This is why you have to compartmentalize dreams. Just because someone is depicted negatively in one dream does not mean they are an evil person. It simply means that in that particular situation they are operating on the wrong side of the tracks so to speak.
I will give as a case in point a dream I recently realized was about a friend, and had recently been fulfilled in my life. She is a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and a genuine servant of God, only in the scenario in question she wasn't fully walking in keeping with the Lord's will, so she was depicted in more negative terms rather than positively.
Beautiful Black Woman On A Bus Dream
I was riding on a bus and seated next to a black woman. We were conversing the whole time and she seemed like a friend, only we began passing through this large, very beautifully-constructed building district of some sort. It was like architecture you might see in a Star Wars movie or something with the scale of things, but very beautiful, handsomely built structures. I remember remarking to her, "Whoever built this area knew exactly what they were doing," as I was looking at it and marveling over it. But I looked over and she was disinterested, almost like she had no interest whatsoever in something I was taking great interest in. So we kept travelling until we ended up at an apartment which she owned. By the time I was in her apartment with her I noticed she was very beautiful. There was a man there with her. They seemed to be taking turns coming out of the bathroom, and they seemed to be a couple, as if they were partners in some way. Then I woke up.
This was many months ago, well before this forum was built, and at the time I thought, "Who could that be about?" But I know now. The "black" woman here was a dear friend from another forum who I spent some time with recently. She has great spiritual gifts and is indeed beautiful in the eyes of the Lord, hence the symbolism. But her reasons for being around were not entirely Spirit-led, as I was once heavily involved on her forum and I think her primary reason for getting back in touch with me was not simply to make contact with an old friend or congratulate me on what the Lord was doing in my life, but to try and lead me back to her community to get me involved over there again.
This is why she was not interested in the well-constructed district we were passing through in the dream. It represented this forum, which I was immensely impressed with but she wasn't. Other dreams suggest she might be in the future, but her clear disinterest was because she was trying to bring me back to her place on a bus, to where she "lived" so to speak. I did indeed visit her site for a time, only once there, she was making trips "to the restroom," which in dreams represents that there were still some sinful attitudes she was addressing IRL.
Bathrooms are very common symbolism in dreams because all of us are struggling with something, and the symbolism was no big deal. What was interesting, however, was that so far as I understand it she is not a black woman in real life, and when a caucasian is depicted as black in a dream, it means that in that particular situation they are somewhat in the wrong in some way. Beautiful before God, but nevertheless wrong in the present situation.
There are numerous examples I could give of this principle in action, because I have seen it numerous times over the last year alone. But I am positive about the above interpretation now, and one dream should suffice to teach the principle. The important thing to remember is that just because someone is depicted in negative terms in one dream does not make them intrinsically evil. They may be very blessed and walking close to the Lord Jesus Christ, only in that one situation they are operating farther away from Him than they should be. So what the interpreter must always remember is to compartmentalize dreams out, so as not to read more into them than the immediate context suggests. It takes discernment, but then so does just about everything when it comes to operating in the things of God.
