Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great

The book of Joel prophesies that God will raise up an end-time army, and they will prophesy, dream dreams and see visions. They will destroy much of Satan's work before the Antichrist finally arises, restore hope in the power of God, and usher in the end-time harvest. In preparation, this community is designed to be a home for everyone called to be part of that army, and fulfill His end-time work.

Exercising Your Rights

'Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. But whoever loves God is known by God. So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.' (1 Corinthians 8:1-13)

We may have the right or freedom to do something, but someone else may not. If the exercising of our rights or freedom could be a stumbling block to someone else, we should not exercise that right when that person is around. An example would be having an alcoholic beverage or two. We may have the freedom and right to do that without slipping into drunkenness or alcoholism, but someone else may not. If we are around someone who could end up stumbling into drunkenness or alcoholism, we should not have that drink around that person, rather we should abstain. In all of our decisions, we should consider how they could affect those around us. The Lord can give us discernment in those situations.

Hello again!

There may actually be a lot of ways to apply this. The Lord reminded me recently of the verse that says, "To the clean all things are clean," meaning that there is a different perspective regarding a whole host of issues when they are seen through the eyes of God. The law was simply given as a way to spell out for a race of people what "doing unto others as you would have them do unto you" would look like in concrete terms. But God intended better for His people, and the ability to discern for themselves what it means through the leading of the Holy Spirit, with the law no longer written in books but written on their hearts, because they take the time to find out from God how love would truly respond in all such instances.

The immediate context was eating meat sacrificed to demonic idols, and as I cover in my own studies, the real culprits here were Gnostics. They were heretics who would go on to justify eating demonic sacrifices and even practicing fornication and adultery because "the body is for food and food for the body," meaning subtly by extension that sex is for the body and the body is for sex. But these were excuses for sinning against their fellow man, and that is not following the leading of the Holy Spirit, it is simply following the desires and wants of one's bodily needs.

Hope you have a pleasant day.

Agreed!!

"The words I speak to you, they are Spirit and they are Life."

Why did Jesus prophesy, heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons? He performed signs and wonders to confirm the word (Mark 16:20), because it has the power to do more than just save from death. It has the power to grant eternal life (John 6:63). Scripture promises that He will confirm His word through signs and wonders once again (Joel 2:28), and what we teach may determine whether He does so through us or not, so study becomes extremely important. Please join us in studying verse by verse through entire books of the Bible. Understanding each verse in its theological and historical context as led by the Spirit is key to unlocking what the word actually teaches, and revealing what the Spirit is still speaking to the churches in these last days.
