Be a part of something great

The book of Joel prophesies that God will raise up an end-time army, and they will prophesy, dream dreams and see visions. They will destroy much of Satan's work before the Antichrist finally arises, restore hope in the power of God, and usher in the end-time harvest. In preparation, this community is designed to be a home for everyone called to be part of that army, and fulfill His end-time work.

Earthquakes, Billows Of Smoke, & The Asphyxiation Of The Earth By Fire

The hand of the Lord shall be known to His servants, and His indignation to His enemies. For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with His chariots like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword the Lord will judge all flesh. And the slain of the Lord shall be many - Isaiah 66:14-16

What happens when a house catches on fire with people still trapped inside it? Coroners know that in many cases it is not the fire that kills them but the smoke. Fire removes oxygen from the room while replacing it with toxic fumes that choke the victim to death. But what if this were to happen on a global scale?

No, this is not a science fiction story. It is unfortunately coming to pass when the Lord returns for His bride, catches them away to be with Him, and then pours out the fury of His anger upon the earth. That this will happen is strongly suggested by something Peter said in his second epistle, where he stated the following:

Both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the Day of God, because of which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the earthly elements will melt with fervent heat? (2 Peter 3:10-12)

What did he mean that the heavens would be dissolved, being on fire? Huge earthquakes are prophesied to occur in the end-times, and with them massive amounts of smoke will billow up into the earth's atmosphere. As was prophesied through the prophet Joel, "I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of the Lord." (Joel 2:30-31)

Massive Earthquakes

Our Lord prophesied that one of the signs of the end of the age would be manifold earthquakes in various places (Mark 13:8), and these will not only be increasing in frequency but in intensity as well. One will be the worst earthquake to occur in human history. From the language used, it is clear that this earthquake will be so severe that the tectonic plates underneath the earth's crust will be broken up and begin to drift again, causing the islands to "flee away" as it were in what is referred to as continental drift. This earthquake will be so severe it will cause great mountains to crumble and fall.

And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (Revelation 16:18-20)

Such earthquakes will be accompanied by massive seismic upheavals of lava and fire, creating smoke that blackens the sky and darkens the earth's atmosphere, as has been mentioned. That the stars appear to "roll up like a scroll" and large sections of the constellations in the night sky begin disappearing from view will be yet another visible effect:

I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Revelation 6:12-14)

These will be manifestations of God's anger, which scripture says will be accompanied by earthquakes, fire and smoke, for He will "cause the earth to shake" before Him.

The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook. They trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils. Consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it. (Psalm 18:7-8)

The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it. Who can withstand his indignation? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire. The rocks are shattered before him. (Nahum 1:5-6)

This then is what is coming. But on a scale even those familiar with Biblical prophecy may not be aware of, for just as the entire earth was destroyed by water the first time, so too will it be destroyed by fire the next, a parallel Peter referred to in his second letter as both causing the destruction of the planet:

By the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the Heavens and the earth - which are now preserved by the same word - are being reserved for fire unto the Day of Judgment and the perdition of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:5b-7)

Earthquakes broke up the "fountains of the great deep" during the time of the flood, and it appears the Lord will break up the tectonic plates once again, resulting in the entire planet being turned into a smoking waste through seismic upheavals, continental drift, and the very heavens being set on fire and "dissolved." All the smoke which fills the earth's atmosphere will then make it appear as if the sun is turning to darkness and the moon to blood, the result of from a combination of wildfires, volcanic ash, and what is known as Rayleigh Scattering.

A phenomenon called Rayleigh Scattering makes the Moon appear red, orange, or yellow by scattering shorter-wavelength blue light more than longer-wavelength red light, and this effect is intensified by larger atmospheric particles such as those found in smoke, dust, or volcanic ash... Particles from wildfires, dust storms, or heavy pollution scatter light in a similar way to the atmosphere. These particles, sometimes including a high concentration of pollutants, can increase the redness of the moon.

By Fire And The Sword

There are other effects that would result from massive fires depleting the earth's atmosphere of oxygen, some of which are referenced in the Book of Revelation as being prophesied to occur, namely that the resulting destruction of the ozone layer would result in people developing painful sores on their skin, and the earth's waters would also increasingly vaporize leading to drought. I doubt AI had any concern for confirming Biblical prophecy, so the following search on "What happens to air with no oxygen" can be trusted as unbiased in that regard. It had this to say about what we could expect if the earth's oxygen began to be increasingly depleted. I will insert verses of scripture where applicable from the Book of Revelation for support:

Beyond the immediate deaths of humans and animals, fires would be extinguished, and the ozone layer would disappear, causing severe sunburns from UV radiation. The Earth's crust and water would also crumble or evaporate because they are composed of large percentages of oxygen, leading to a catastrophic planetary collapse and a world very similar to Venus.

Sky Darkness and Sunburn:
Without oxygen particles to scatter sunlight, the sky would turn black, and the ozone layer—which is made of oxygen molecules—would vanish, exposing the Earth's surface to harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

The first went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and severely painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped its image (Revelation 16:2)

Water Evaporation
:
Since water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen (H2O), without oxygen, all water on Earth would essentially turn into pure hydrogen and evaporate.

And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. (Revelation 16:12)

Atmosphere Change
:
The atmosphere would become more like that of Venus, with a much higher concentration of carbon dioxide.

The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red... The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up (Revelation 6:12-14)

Venus often appears red to us on its surface, and for much the same reasons. Heavy volcanic activity. Again from the AI on why Venus looks red to us here on earth.

From Its surface is actually reddish-brown and rocky, similar to volcanic basalt, with colors from oxidized volcanic rocks. When viewed from Earth, especially near the horizon, Venus can take on a red or orange hue because the light from the planet must pass through Earth's atmosphere, which scatters blue light more effectively, leaving the longer red wavelengths to reach our eyes. The surface of Venus is covered with volcanic rocks that are a reddish-brown color, a result of the planet's intense volcanic activity. Chemical reactions between the rocks and the atmosphere can cause this reddish color.

The opening of massive fissures in the earth's surface that bring smoke and fire billowing into the atmosphere will ultimately bring about the asphyxiation of humanity, and it will not be by accident. The angels of God will be sent in just as they were sent in to break up the fountains of the great deep before the flood. The Bible says angels were responsible for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in the time of Abraham, and as I shared in a study a few months back, that destruction which was unleashed upon the five cities of the plain is easily explained as occurring because of a massive earthquake, which hurtled vast amounts of volcanic ash into the sky. The angels of God will again be coming, and this time it will not just be a few of them but myriads (literally "thousands upon thousands"), and they will be coming specifically to execute God's judgment upon the earth.

The Lord will come with myriads of His angels to execute judgment upon all, and convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in ungodliness, and of all the harsh things ungodly sinners spoke against Him. (Jude 1:14-15)

Will most of humanity die merely as a result of asphyxiation? No, scripture says that the angels of God will also be coming to bring the sword as well, for as Isaiah prophesied, "The Lord will come with fire and with His chariots like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword the Lord will judge all flesh, and the slain of the Lord shall be many." (Isaiah 66:14-16). But these appear to be the two primary means by which the billions of people who inhabit planet earth by the time of the Antichrist's reign will be annihilated to make way from the millennial reign of Christ.

For additional work on the judgment that befell Sodom and Gomorrah by angels, and how earthquakes were the likely cause, see the following study.

"The words I speak to you, they are Spirit and they are Life."

Why did Jesus prophesy, heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons? He performed signs and wonders to confirm the word (Mark 16:20), because it has the power to do more than just save from death. It has the power to grant eternal life (John 6:63). Scripture promises that He will confirm His word through signs and wonders once again (Joel 2:28), and what we teach may determine whether He does so through us or not, so study becomes extremely important. Please join us in studying verse by verse through entire books of the Bible. Understanding each verse in its theological and historical context as led by the Spirit is key to unlocking what the word actually teaches, and revealing what the Spirit is still speaking to the churches in these last days.
